Thoughts from an un-Thinking Blogger

I am sure enjoying reading the Thinking Blogger rings - it's fun to follow links and end up in all new places! You won't see my blog up for that one tho, and here's why: I expend ALL my mental energy in my job. When I first walked thru the doors this morning, the techs were yelling at me that we have a patient not breathing. That pretty well sets up a day for ya! Every day I deal with blood, tears, depression, anger, sadness - you name it and we'll come up with it for you. My professional persona is on red alert for anywhere from 8 to 13 hours a day and it can and does leave me drained. I certainly have the capacity to write thoughtful, meaningful entries but for the most part I just want to entertain and be entertained. I love blog-jumping and reading so many wonderful and yes, thought provoking blogs; as long as it's someone elses' thoughts and doesn't require me to be inspirational. The reason I quilt is to let my DNA unwind a bit from the stresses of my day, and roaming all your quilty blogs is a BIG part of that now! While I am sewing, or cutting, or pressing or playing with fabric, sure those "Important Thoughts" weave in and out of my consciousness, but I always try to beat them back to whence they came. (Ohhhhh!!!! That's why I have so many headaches!) There's way too much seriousness around me so I crave simplicity and silliness and happy creative thoughts. Keep it up - you are all making more of a difference than you know! Thank you!

As you too are making a difference both at your job and in your blogs. Thanks.

It makes perfect sense to me...if you spent all day balancing things in a bank why would you want to do bookkeeping for others at home at night? I worked for a period of time as s surgical tech and I am familiar with the 'drained' feeling. It's wonderful that you do the work that you do, we need caring people everywhere *VBS*
And thanks for that 'elequent'...LOL I think a line from Fried Green Tomatoes fits better though, it's the "face it honey, I'm older and have more insurance". Just substitue in what works for you...i.e. 'time' or how about 'words'? Big hugs for hard days, Finn

Well Su Bee, yo are a wonderful read, and I have to agree with Katie that you make a difference both at your job and your blog - reading you makes me SMILE!!! (did you know that word is the same in both our languages? probably means something...)

I love what you have written. I read blogs to be entertained as well. I have a huge respect for people who keep their blogs lighthearted as only a complete idiot would think others do not have problems. It takes a lot of discipline and maturity to keep whining and complaining out of print. I have no interest in hearing about one's workload or how difficult her boss is or how demanding her job is; all this just brings me down. My blog reading time is a time of escape from my own daily concerns. Once again thank-you for what you have so gracefully said today, and your blog.

How right you are! Quilting has saved my sanity (as I say on my blog) more than once - Children's Protection Services for 22 years does tend to make you a bit "wacky", so lets hear it for some of us who enjoy the reading and appreciate others thoughtful musings.

I also love to go around and read the blogs and collect inspiration from each blogger. I have never been much of a writer but I am trying more to express myself with words.

I also work in the medical field and some day are just beyond words :)

I am with you Miss Su B! I started out being very, very serious and ended up being nuts. And I actually DID nominate you, didn't you notice? Heck, you are in my top 5 any day! It's dear people like you, who take the time to comment on blogs that aren't as 'popular' as some blogs, that warms my heart and allows me to like you so much! You may have a few monkeys in the attic but they play very nicely with the monkeys in mine!

~hanging head in shame~ I was one of those quilters who started out blogging to have a place to bitch, whine and complain. But I'm over that now! :) I love to talk about my passions...quilting, family, quilting, friends, quilting, fun, quilting...did I mention quilting?!?! LOL! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I also think it's neat to go from blog to blog and maybe clicking on a link that we don't normally read and maybe learning something.

My bloglines list include a lot of different interests. After a stressful day, you never know what interests is going to let the tension go away!

What a great post! And I understand and agree with you.

I've often felt guilty for not getting deep and thoughtful with heavy subjects on my blog, but hey, I do enough of that in the middle of the night. My quilt life is totally for my pleasure, NOT for heavy thinking. I've had enough of heavy and sad thinking ... that's why I play with my (and YOUR) quilts!

An excellent post - thank you.

Oh SuBee, you have been given a great gift from God to help heal and comfort your patients. Everyone needs space just to be themselves. I so look forward to your "words"!
